International Watermedia XVI
August 15 - October 17, 2009, Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center, Pueblo,
International Watermedia XVI completed a highly successful run on October 17, 2009.
This year, we received 385 works for consideration. The 148 submitting artists represented three continents and hailed from 29 states and provinces from throughout the United States and Canada. Acclaimed juror, Thomas J. Owen, A.W.S. N.W.S., selected the final 80 works that were included in the exhibition and conducted a wonderful three-day workshop. Tom selected twenty-four pieces to receive exhibition awards totaling over $3,500. Hundreds of exhibition visitors completed ballots to vote for the People's Choice Award. The winners were:

The Founders Award honors one of the ten Pikes Peak Watercolor
Society Charter Members. This year’s honoree is Marian Busey.
Marian
was born in Ohio in March 1912.
She attended the Cleveland Art School during the Great
Depression and later attended Ohio State University earning a
Bachelors and Masters degree in Art Teaching and Education.
